The peated flight is not for the feint-hearted. Peated whisky is given a smoky flavour by compounds which are released by the peat fires used to dry malted barley.

This flight will showcase the evergrowing selection of popular peated malts that Ireland has to offer.

1. West Cork Glengarriff Series Bog Oak. This triple distilled, Single Malt Irish Whiskey is matured in sherry casks and then finished in bog oak charred casks for a further 4-6 months. The bog oak is harvested from the local boglands of Glengarriff.

2. Two Stacks Smoke & Mirrors. Smoke & Mirrors Peated Stout Cask Single Malt is like no other. A combination consisting of 10% double malt and 30% triple peated malt, each matured in ex-bourbon cask and 60% triple distilled malt aged in ex-bourbon, and finished in ex-imperial stout casks. The result is a soft, rich whiskey with sweet notes of smoked chocolate, honey, espresso, and a hint of sea salt. Colour-free and non-chill filtered.

3. Hinch Peated. A welcome addition to the few Irish peated whiskeys on the market, the Hinch peated single malt. Sweet yet smoky on the palate with flavours of liquorice, toasted oak and lots of peat smoke.

4. Connemara Single Malted 12 Years Old. One of the best expressions of Connemara, perfectly combines richness and smokiness. A limited release of 5000 bottles per year, this beautifully crafted Connemara has a distinctly intense peat smoke character mingling with a fresh coastal breeze reminiscient of an old Port Ellen. This ruggedness is offset by a delicious vanilla sweetness adding both balance and comlexity to the malt.
